Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Large Pot

Ingredients

  • 8 cups Jicama peeled and cut into fry-shaped sticks (about 1/3 to 1/2 inch thick and 3 to 4 inches long)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper

Instructions

  • First, bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil on your stove. Carefully add your jicama fries and let them cook for about 18 to 25 minutes. They should become tender, slightly translucent, and lose their raw crunch. Remember, cooking time might vary a bit based on how thick your fries are cut.
  • Once the jicama is no longer crunchy, drain them well and gently pat each fry dry with a paper towel. This step is super important for getting that perfect crispy texture!
  • Now, preheat your air fryer to a cozy 400°F (204°C) for just 2 to 3 minutes.
  • While it's preheating, transfer your dried jicama fries to a spacious bowl. Drizzle them with olive oil, then sprinkle generously with garlic powder, cumin, and sea salt. Toss everything together until each fry is beautifully and evenly coated.
  • Arrange your seasoned jicama in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they aren't crowded (you'll likely need to cook them in a few batches). Air fry for 10-12 minutes, until they turn a lovely golden brown and are wonderfully crispy. Repeat this process with any remaining fries. Enjoy your wholesome, guilt-free treat!
