Equipment

  • 13x9 inch baking pan
  • Microwave-safe Bowl
  • Small Saucepan

Ingredients

Brownie Batter

  • 12 tbsp butter cut into pieces
  • 3/4 cup natural cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs plus 1 large egg yolk, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Frosting

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp candy-coated chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 13x9-inch pan with parchment paper.
  • Melt butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir in cocoa powder until smooth.
  • Add both sugars and mix well. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually stir into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 16–18 minutes (until a toothpick comes out with fudgy crumbs). Cool completely.
  • Frosting: In a saucepan over low heat, melt both chocolate chips with heavy cream, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and salt. Let cool 5–10 minutes.
  • Pour frosting over cooled brownies and spread evenly. Immediately sprinkle candy-coated chips on top. Let frosting set before cutting.
