Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups shredded cooked chicken from about 2 lbs chicken
  • 6 oz ham cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 4 oz unsalted butter melted
  • 6 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp white wine optional, for an extra layer of flavor
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 5 oz Swiss cheese slices

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the shredded cooked chicken evenly across the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Layer the bite-sized pieces of ham directly over the chicken.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, softened cream cheese, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and salt. If using white wine, add it now too. Use an electric mixer to blend these ingredients until you achieve a wonderfully thick and smooth sauce.
  • Carefully spread this creamy sauce over the chicken and ham layers in your baking dish.
  • Arrange the slices of Swiss cheese neatly on top of the sauce, covering it completely.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and heated through.
  • For an extra golden and crispy cheese topping, you can carefully broil for about 2 minutes at the very end. Be sure to watch it continuously, as cheese can burn very quickly under the broiler!
