Equipment

  • 9x13 inch Baking Dish
  • Electric Mixer
  • Large Bowl

Ingredients

  • 6 cups cooked chicken shredded
  • 6 ounces ham diced into bite-sized pieces
  • 4 ounces butter melted
  • 6 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon dry white wine (optional, but adds great flavor!)
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 5 ounces Swiss cheese sliced or shredded

Instructions

  • Get Ready: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Layer the Base: Spread the shredded cooked chicken evenly in the bottom of the prepared dish. Scatter the diced ham over the chicken layer.
  • Whip up the Sauce: In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to combine the melted butter, softened cream cheese, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and salt. If you're using white wine, add it now. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  • Cover with Creaminess: Gently spread this rich sauce over the chicken and ham layers in the baking dish.
  • Add the Cheese Topping: Arrange the slices or shredded Swiss cheese over the sauce.
  • Bake to Perfection: Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the casserole is hot, bubbly, and the cheese is lightly golden.
