Equipment

  • Large Pot
  • Potato masher (optional)
  • Electric hand mixer (optional)

Ingredients

  • 2.5 pounds Sweet potatoes peeled and cut into small cubes
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted butter plus extra for garnish, if desired
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup Milk warm or room temperature; use less for a firmer mash
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sea salt to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Grab a large pot and fill it with salted water, then bring it to a rolling boil.
  • Gently add your sweet potato cubes to the boiling water. Let them cook for about 15 minutes, or until they're super tender when you poke them with a fork. Drain all the water completely and pat the sweet potatoes dry.
  • In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for just a minute until it smells fantastic. Remove the pot from the heat.
  • Return the drained sweet potatoes to the pot. Pour in the milk and start mashing! You can use a potato masher for a slightly chunky texture, or an electric hand mixer for a silky smooth finish.
  • Season your mashed sweet potatoes with sea salt and black pepper, adjusting to your taste preference.
  • Serve these warm, healthy mashed sweet potatoes right away. Feel free to add a little extra butter or a sprinkle of fresh parsley or chives on top for an extra touch!
