  • Oven
  • Baking Sheet
  • Shallow Dishes
  • Wire Rack

Ingredients

  • 1 large Onion sliced into 1/4-inch rings
  • 1 cup Almond Flour
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 large Eggs beaten
  • 1/4 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Avocado Oil Spray as needed for cooking

Instructions

  • Prepare Onion Rings: Begin by slicing your large onion into 1/4-inch thick rings, then gently separate them. Make sure to pat them very dry with paper towels; this is key for achieving that super crispy coating.
  • Set Up Breading Stations: Get three shallow dishes ready. In the first dish, whisk together the almond flour, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined. In the second dish, beat the eggs with the heavy cream. In the third dish, place your grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Coat Each Ring: Take an onion ring and first dip it thoroughly into the almond flour mixture, ensuring it's completely covered. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, press the ring firmly into the Parmesan cheese until it's well-coated. Repeat this process for all your onion rings.
  • Cook to Crispy Perfection: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) or your oven to 425°F (220°C) with a parchment-lined baking sheet. Lightly spray the breaded rings with avocado oil for extra crispiness. Place the coated onion rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket or on the baking sheet, being careful not to overcrowd them. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are beautifully golden brown and deliciously crispy.
  • Serve Warm: Once cooked, remove the onion rings from the air fryer or oven and let them cool for just a minute on a wire rack. This simple step helps them maintain their crunch. Serve your healthy, homemade keto onion rings immediately with your favorite low-carb dipping sauce!
