  • 8 slices thick bacon diced
  • 0.5 white onion thinly sliced
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1.5 cups half and half (a blend of milk and cream)
  • 0.5 tsp kosher salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1.5 cups shredded Swiss cheese

  • Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a standard pie plate with butter or your preferred cooking spray, ensuring an easy release later.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the diced bacon and thinly sliced onion. Cook gently, stirring occasionally, until the bacon becomes wonderfully crispy and the onions are soft and golden brown, usually about 15 minutes.
  • Once cooked, carefully transfer the bacon and onions to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any extra grease. Set them aside briefly.
  • In a spacious mixing bowl, whisk together the large eggs, half and half, kosher salt, black pepper, ground nutmeg, and cayenne pepper until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  • Gently fold the shredded Swiss cheese, crispy bacon, and softened onions into the egg mixture. Stir until all the delicious ingredients are evenly distributed throughout.
  • Pour this vibrant mixture into your prepared pie plate. Bake for about 45 minutes, or until the center is beautifully set and feels firm to the touch. Let it cool slightly before slicing and enjoying!
