Equipment

  • 13x9-inch baking dish

Ingredients

  • 2 cans cherry pie filling 21-ounce
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix 15.25-ounce
  • 1 cup unsalted butter 2 sticks, melted

Instructions

  • Warm your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly coat a 13x9-inch baking dish with non-stick spray for effortless cleanup.
  • Gently spoon the vibrant cherry pie filling into the bottom of the dish, spreading it out evenly.
  • Carefully sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix over the cherry layer, creating an even blanket.
  • Drizzle the melted butter thoughtfully over the cake mix. Use a spoon to softly swirl the butter and cake mix together, just enough to moisten the top layer slightly without mixing into the cherries.
  • Bake in your preheated oven for 50-55 minutes, or until the top is beautifully golden and the cake is set. Avoid overbaking to keep it wonderfully moist.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before scooping out and enjoying.

Notes

Serve warm, perhaps with a dollop of light whipped cream or a small scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delightful treat.
