Equipment

  • Loaf Pans (8x4-inch)
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Electric Mixer
  • Spatula
  • Wire Rack
  • Small Bowl

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 3 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1 box white cake mix (14.25 ounce)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup red and green jimmies sprinkles
  • 2 cups powdered sugar sifted or whisked
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4-6 tbsp heavy cream (or milk)
  • 1-2 pinches salt

Instructions

  • Get Ready to Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray two 8x4-inch loaf pans with baking spray and set them aside.
  • Whip It Up: In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and eggs until they're mostly combined. Don't worry if there are still a few tiny cream cheese specks – that's perfectly fine!
  • Add the Mix: Now, add the dry cake mix and vegetable oil to your bowl. Mix on low speed for about 30 seconds until everything starts to come together. Scrape down the sides of the bowl, then turn the mixer to medium-high and beat for another 2 minutes until the batter is smooth and creamy.
  • Sprinkle the Fun: Gently fold in the festive red and green jimmies sprinkles using a spatula or spoon. Stir just enough until they're evenly mixed into the batter – no overmixing!
  • Bake to Perfection: Divide the colorful batter evenly between your two prepared loaf pans, smoothing out the tops. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a loaf comes out clean.
  • Cool Down: Let the loaves cool in their pans for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully turn them out onto a wire rack or serving plate to cool completely. This is key before glazing!
  • Whip Up the Glaze: Once the loaves are totally cool, whisk together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, 4 tablespoons of heavy cream (or milk), and a pinch of salt in a small bowl until smooth. If you need it thinner, add more cream a teaspoon at a time; if thicker, add a bit more powdered sugar.
  • Drizzle and Serve: Drizzle the satiny glaze over the tops of your cooled Christmas bread loaves, letting it beautifully drip down the sides. Allow the glaze to set for about 10-15 minutes until it hardens slightly. Then, slice into delicious pieces and enjoy your festive treat!
