Equipment

  • Stand Mixer

Ingredients

  • 1 cup erythritol sweetener
  • 2 teaspoons blackstrap molasses
  • 1 teaspoon caramel extract

Instructions

  • Begin by placing your erythritol sweetener into the bowl of a stand mixer. If you don't have one, a large bowl with a hand mixer works just as well.
  • Next, put the molasses into a small, microwave-safe bowl. Warm it gently in the microwave for a few seconds to make it a little more liquid. Stir in the caramel extract until combined.
  • Turn your mixer on to a low speed. Slowly drizzle the warm molasses mixture into the erythritol. Keep mixing until the sweetener transforms into a beautiful, uniform golden-brown color.
  • Once perfectly blended, transfer your homemade brown sugar substitute to an airtight container. Store it at room temperature and use it just like you would any recipe calling for brown sugar or a brown sugar replacement!

Notes

This homemade brown sugar substitute is perfect for those following a keto or low-carb diet. Store it at room temperature in an airtight container and use it just like you would any recipe calling for brown sugar or a brown sugar replacement.
