  • 4 slices bacon chopped
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (or ground turkey for a lighter option)
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion (about half of a small one)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 2 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup chicken or beef broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions
 

  • First, warm a large skillet over medium heat, adding a light spray of cooking oil. Cook your chopped bacon until it's wonderfully crispy. Take the bacon out and set it aside, but leave just one tablespoon of that tasty bacon grease in the pan.
  • Now, add the ground beef and chopped onion to the skillet. Cook them until the meat is nicely browned, then carefully drain any extra fat for a healthier touch.
  • Next, stir in the tomato paste, mustard, softened cream cheese, broth, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Keep stirring gently until the cream cheese completely melts, creating a smooth, creamy sauce.
  • Lower the heat to a gentle simmer. Sprinkle the reserved crispy bacon and shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of your casserole.
  • Pop a lid on the skillet and let it cook on low for about 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese is beautifully melted and gooey. Serve warm and enjoy your effortless, healthy meal!
