  • 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 ounce)
  • 0.5 cup holiday sprinkles

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper for easy non-stick baking.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, butter, egg, and vanilla extract until the mixture is beautifully smooth and creamy.
  • Gradually stir in the yellow cake mix until a thick, sticky dough forms. Be careful not to overmix; just combine until blended.
  • Gently fold in the holiday sprinkles. Mix just enough to distribute them evenly, preventing the colors from bleeding into the dough.
  • Place the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This brief chill makes the dough much easier to handle and roll.
  • Once chilled, scoop the dough into 1 1/2-inch balls. Roll each ball generously in the powdered sugar, ensuring it's completely coated for that iconic finish.
  • Arrange the coated dough balls about 2 inches apart on your prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes. The cookies are perfectly done when the edges are set, but the centers still look wonderfully soft and slightly gooey.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes to set up before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
