Instructions
Prepare 24 cupcakes using the cake mix according to package directions; allow to cool completely.
In a stand mixer with paddle attachment, beat butter on medium speed until fluffy.
Mix in strawberry jam until fully blended.
Gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time, on low speed.
Add vanilla and salt, then beat on medium speed until smooth.
Frost cupcakes with a thin layer of strawberry buttercream using an offset spatula.
Fill a piping bag with remaining buttercream and pipe curved lines and swirls to resemble zombie brains.
Arrange cupcakes on a tray and lightly drizzle with strawberry syrup for a bloody effect.
