These delightful Heartfelt Strawberry Cream Cheese Danishes are an easy and sweet treat perfect for any occasion, especially Valentine's Day. Made with flaky puff pastry, a creamy cheese filling, and sweet strawberry jam, they're sure to impress!
Gently unroll your thawed puff pastry onto a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into two even rectangles or squares – this helps them bake beautifully and uniformly.
On each pastry piece, make four diagonal cuts from the corners, stopping about an inch from the middle, to create flaps. In a bowl, quickly beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy – this is your delicious base!
Spoon the cream cheese mix into the center of each pastry, leaving a small border. Gently fold the four pastry flaps inwards, slightly overlapping them to form a lovely heart shape, and lightly press to seal.
Place a small dollop of your favorite strawberry jam right in the center of the cream cheese filling. Don't overdo it to keep things neat!
Whisk an egg with a tablespoon of water for a simple egg wash. Lightly brush this over the tops and sides of each danish for a gorgeous golden sheen. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Pop them into a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until they're golden brown and wonderfully puffed. While they cool a bit, whisk powdered sugar with 1 tablespoon of milk for a silky glaze – add more milk a tiny bit at a time if you need it thinner.
Drizzle the glaze generously over your cooled danishes. For an extra touch of freshness, top with a few sliced fresh strawberries. Enjoy these delightful treats warm or at room temperature!
