Homemade Chai Tea Latte

- 6 teaspoons Darjeeling black tea or tea bags
- 6 cups filtered water
- 2-4 inches fresh ginger, crushed
- 2 sticks cinnamon, crushed
- 4-6 whole cloves, crushed
- 6-7 pods cardamom, crushed
- 1 star anise, optional
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¼-½ cup honey or sweetener of choice
- 6 ounces whole milk or plant-based milk
Gather all spices and ingredients.
Crush the spices using a wooden spoon or mortar and pestle.
Boil 6 cups of water, then reduce to a simmer.
Add tea and crushed spices, along with vanilla extract.
Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, then remove from heat.
Stir in honey and let steep for 10-15 minutes.
Strain the mixture into a container and refrigerate.
To prepare the latte, mix equal parts chai concentrate and steamed milk.
