- 2 Italian sausage links (4 ounces each)
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 small green pepper cut into strips
- 1 small onion halved and thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup spaghetti sauce
- 1/4 tsp dried basil
- 2 brat buns split and toasted
- 2 tbsp shredded Italian cheese blend
In a large skillet, add the sausages and water. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat, cover, and let them simmer for 10 minutes. Uncover and cook another 5-10 minutes until the sausages are no longer pink inside. Drain the water and set the sausages aside.
In the same skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the green pepper strips and sliced onion until they are tender. Return the cooked sausages to the pan, then stir in the spaghetti sauce and dried basil. Cook everything together until the sauce is hot and bubbly.
To serve, place a hot sausage on each toasted bun. Spoon the pepper-onion sauce over the top, then sprinkle with the shredded Italian cheese blend.
