Equipment

  • Serving Plate

Ingredients

  • 16 mini mozzarella balls (bocconcini)
  • 10 plum cherry tomatoes (or oval-shaped cherry tomatoes)
  • Extra virgin olive oil for drizzling
  • Sea salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • First, gently drain any excess liquid from your mini mozzarella balls and pat them thoroughly dry using a paper towel. Next, rinse your cherry tomatoes under cool water and pat them completely dry.
  • Carefully slice both the mozzarella balls and the cherry tomatoes into thin, uniform rounds. Aim for consistent thickness to make assembly easier and prettier.
  • On a clean serving plate, begin arranging the sliced mozzarella and tomatoes. Overlap them slightly in alternating patterns to elegantly form beautiful heart shapes. You can create one large heart or several smaller ones.
  • Finish your charming appetizers by lightly drizzling them with good quality extra virgin olive oil. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt and a generous amount of freshly ground black pepper over the hearts for perfect seasoning. Serve immediately and enjoy this delightful, healthy bite!
