Equipment

  • Mini cupcake pan

Ingredients

  • 1 package sugar cookie mix (17.5 ounce)
  • 1/2 cup melted salted butter (1 stick)
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg at room temperature
  • Pink or red food coloring
  • 24-26 unwrapped Hershey's Hugs
  • Decorative sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly spray a mini cupcake pan with cooking spray.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar cookie mix, melted butter, all-purpose flour, egg, and a few drops of food coloring. Mix everything until it's just blended into a soft, pink dough. You can add more food coloring to achieve your desired shade.
  • Take about one tablespoon of the cookie dough and gently flatten it into a disc in the palm of your hand.
  • Place one unwrapped Hershey's Hug in the center of the flattened dough. Carefully wrap the dough around the chocolate, molding it into a neat ball. Don't worry if small cracks appear; just gently press the dough to seal them.
  • Place each chocolate-filled cookie dough ball upright into a cavity of your prepared mini cupcake pan. Repeat this process until all the dough and chocolates are used.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookie cups look lightly set.
  • Once out of the oven, immediately sprinkle decorative sprinkles onto the warm tops, pressing them gently to adhere.
  • Allow the cookie cups to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before carefully removing them. This helps them firm up and keeps them from falling apart. Serve and enjoy your sweet, hidden chocolate surprise!
