Ingredients
  

Cookies

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (13.25 oz)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

Frosting

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Mix chocolate cake mix, eggs, and vegetable oil until a thick dough forms.
  • Scoop dough balls onto the baking sheet, leaving 2 inches between them.
  • Bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  • Melt butter in a saucepan. Whisk in cocoa powder and milk until smooth.
  • Add vanilla extract and powdered sugar and mix until smooth frosting forms.
  • Spoon warm frosting over warm cookies.
  • Transfer cookies to a wire rack and let frosting set.

Notes

Don't overbake the cookies. Adjust frosting consistency with milk or powdered sugar if needed.
