Equipment

  • 8 or 9-inch baking dish
  • Large skillet

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 0.5 medium onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 can green beans 15-ounce, drained (opt for low-sodium)
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup 10.75-ounce, opt for low-sodium/healthy version
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups frozen tater tots
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spray an 8 or 9-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the lean ground beef until it's no longer pink. Drain all excess fat.
  • Add the diced onion to the skillet with the beef and cook for 4-5 minutes until soft and clear. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Mix in the Worcestershire sauce with the beef and onion. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Transfer the seasoned beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Spread the low-sodium cream of mushroom soup evenly over the beef.
  • Distribute the drained green beans over the soup layer, seasoning with a little salt and pepper. Top everything with the shredded cheddar cheese, then arrange the frozen tater tots neatly on top.
  • Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let the casserole cool for a few minutes after baking before serving. Enjoy!
