Large Baking Sheet
Parchment Paper
- 24 ounces good quality dark chocolate chips or melting wafers (about 4 cups)
- 20 ounces white chocolate chips or melting wafers (about 3.5 cups)
- 1 tsp food-grade peppermint extract oil-based for best results
- 3 ounces crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
- 1.5 tsp sea salt flakes or coarse sea salt
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
Gently melt the dark chocolate. You can use a double boiler, stirring until smooth, or microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring well after each, until fully melted. Spread this melted chocolate evenly onto your prepared baking sheet and let it sit for a few minutes at room temperature to partially set. This helps the layers bond later.
While the dark chocolate cools, melt the white chocolate using the same method. Once smooth, stir in the peppermint extract. Carefully spread this peppermint white chocolate layer over the partially set dark chocolate.
Sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies and sea salt flakes generously over the white chocolate layer.
Let the bark set completely at room temperature for at least 30 minutes, or until firm. Once firm, break or cut into irregular pieces and enjoy your delicious, homemade treat!
Enjoy this delicious, homemade treat!
